Think tank says Reeves avoids tax reforms
Institute for Fiscal Studies director Helen Miller has criticized Chancellor Rachel Reeves for avoiding meaningful tax system reforms that could boost economic growth following her recent budget. The criticism comes as the Office for Budget Responsibility downgraded medium-term growth forecasts, with GDP growth expected to fall from 1.9% to 1.4% in 2026 and remaining at 1.5% through 2029. Miller argued that rather than implementing incremental changes, Reeves should have pursued comprehensive tax system overhaul.
