There's a new most profitable company on Earth

The AI boom's hunger for memory chips has made Samsung, for now, the world's most profitable company by operating profit. Samsung said on Tuesday it expects about $58bn in operating profit for the second quarter, nearly twenty times last year's figure and above Nvidia's best. The numbers are preliminary, and the same chip prices driving them are making phones and laptops dearer.
