The £2.8M Shortfall Threatening a UNESCO World Heritage Telescope
Over 100 artists, authors and scientists have written to prime minister Andy Burnham to stop the planned March 2028 shutdown. UK Research and Innovation, the national funding body, announced last week that they are ending their support to save money. Halting observations at the Unesco world heritage location puts 28 jobs at risk and disrupts work for almost 3,000 researchers.
