Targeted prostate cancer treatment as effective as surgery with fewer side effects
A major NHS study has found focal therapy, a less invasive treatment, is just as effective as traditional methods. Focal therapy uses high-intensity ultrasound or freezing to destroy cancerous tissue, cutting the risk of side effects like urine leakage. After 10 years, only two of nearly 3,500 men in the study died from the disease.
