Taiwan's president says the island will not accept rule from China
China still refuses to speak with President Lai Ching-te, who said Beijing is using legal pressure, military threats, disinformation and diplomatic pressure against Taiwan. Speaking at the ruling Democratic Progressive Party's annual meeting on Sunday, Lai urged members to resist what he called China's "red terror". Lai also said Taiwan's future should be decided by its 23 million people and repeated that it is not subordinate to China.
