Taiwan warns China is taking tighter control of surrounding seas and airspace
Taipei's defence ministry published an annual security review warning that Beijing is highly unpredictable after recently removing top military officials. Because it lacks the power for a direct beach invasion, China is instead practising how to completely block the island's shipping routes. The document claims Beijing is also studying the American-led war in Iran, paying close attention to rapid ammunition use and overstretched air defences.
