Swiss voters throw out plan to lock neutrality into constitution
Swiss voters rejected a plan on Sunday to write a stricter definition of neutrality into the constitution, with about 70% voting against, final official results showed. Backed by the Swiss People's Party, it would have barred cooperation with military alliances and allowed sanctions only with United Nations Security Council approval. The result keeps the government free to impose sanctions and work with NATO.
