Supermarkets like Tesco, Asda, Aldi facing ban on throwing away edible food during drought
A public petition wants major chains forced to donate safe food instead of binning millions of meals. The London Business School says UK supermarkets throw away about 200,000 tonnes of food annually, costing them around £1 billion. Farmers are also warning of shrinking potato crops and severe harvest shortages as the heatwave continues.
