Sunak Hails Tobacco Act as It Receives Royal Assent

Landmark legislation banning the sale of tobacco to anyone born on or after 1 January 2009 became UK law on 29 April, after the Tobacco and Vapes Act received Royal Assent. Originally introduced by former Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, the law was hailed as a "watershed moment." Sunak said it will save an "enormous" number of lives and end smoking within a generation.
