Star Wars scrapped a planned robot movie because it lacked key characters
Screenwriter Simon Farnaby revealed Disney and Lucasfilm cancelled a film he wrote with Paul King because it featured no main characters. Farnaby, who wrote Wonka, said the idea was based around a robot and didn't feel like a Star Wars movie to them. The concept is now being reworked as a separate sci-fi film outside the franchise.
