SpaceX wins $1.6 billion Pentagon deal for 18 satellite launches

The US Space Force awarded SpaceX two task orders for 18 Falcon 9 missions from California through late 2027. The launches will transport satellites that will assist the military in identifying and monitoring airborne dangers almost instantly. The $1.6 billion deal represents the biggest individual order publicly revealed as part of the Space Force's commercial procurement programme to date.
