September student visas plunge to a five-year low

September student visas plunge to a five-year low

Home Office figures show sponsored study visa applications from main applicants fell to 71,600 in September, down 10.3 percent on last year and the lowest September total in five years. August slumped. Across July to September, bids sat almost a quarter below 2022 levels. Universities fear weaker overseas recruitment and high refusal rates in key markets will deepen budget holes that rely on foreign fees.
