Scientists find why Ozempic fails for some people
Researchers have identified genetic variants that appear to make some people far less responsive to GLP-1 drugs such as Ozempic and Mounjaro. Roughly 10% of the population carries these variants, which seem to cause a form of GLP-1 resistance that blunts the medication's effect. The finding could help doctors predict who will benefit from the drugs before prescribing them.
