Ronaldo's last World Cup ends as Spain beat Portugal

Cristiano Ronaldo's World Cup career is over after Spain beat Portugal 1-0 in the last 16 in Dallas, ending what the 41-year-old had confirmed would be his final tournament. Spain dominated for long spells but were held by goalkeeper Diogo Costa until Mikel Merino struck deep in stoppage time to settle it. Ronaldo, playing in a record sixth World Cup, leaves the stage still without the one trophy that eluded him.
