Report suggests tax hike for middle earners to fund defense.

A new report indicates that Chancellor John Healey should anticipate increasing taxes on middle earners to finance a substantial rise in defence expenditure. The Resolution Foundation thinktank says Labour's pledge to spend 3.5% of GDP on defence by 2035 would cost £28bn a year. They argue that average workers' tax burden in the UK remains low compared to other rich countries.
