Reeves cuts energy bills for 10,000 UK businesses

Chancellor Rachel Reeves has expanded the British Industrial Competitiveness Scheme to cover 10,000 UK firms, up from 7,000, cutting electricity bills by up to 25% amid rising energy costs from the Iran war. Payments begin in 2027 but will be backdated to April 2026. The scheme is expected to cost up to £600 million annually.
