Rail Regulator Reverses Decision on Manchester-London 'Ghost Train' After Public Outcry

The Office of Rail and Road has reversed its controversial decision to run Avanti's 7am weekday Manchester Piccadilly to London Euston service as a 'ghost train' with staff only. Originally ordered to run empty from December 15 due to congestion concerns on the West Coast Main Line, the regulator backtracked after public criticism. The service, which completes the journey in under two hours, will now continue carrying passengers despite potential impacts on network reliability and punctuality.
