Iceland votes tomorrow on reviving EU talks, with fishing a key issue

Icelanders will vote in a referendum tomorrow on whether to resume negotiations for joining the European Union. Fisheries are the backbone of Iceland's economy, accounting for about 8% of GDP and 40% of its exports. While the EU has hinted at flexibility on fishing rules, Iceland's foreign minister said it would demand a carve-out from the Common Fisheries Policy.
