Qantas took a Boeing 787 out of service in Rome after bedbugs were discovered in the front rows of economy on a flight from Perth on 9 October. The return Rome to Perth service the next day was cancelled so engineers could deep-clean the cabin. The airline apologised and rebooked passengers within 48 hours. An expert said the insects probably arrived in a passenger's luggage.
