Purple beats red to become the favourite plant colour for British gardeners
Over 11,000 visitors at a Royal Horticultural Society garden picked their top shades, with nearly 27% choosing purple and about 25% opting for red. Researchers writing in the Acta Psychologica journal say people are ditching plain decking for wilder planting filled with lavender and catmint. London designers report the hue is in huge demand because it brings a calming feel and easily attracts pollinators.
