Prime Minister Burnham wants to end football fans' stadium drinking ban
Prime Minister Burnham has called the ban on men's football fans drinking in stadium stands "discrimination" and unfair compared to other sports. The law, introduced by Margaret Thatcher's government in 1985, prohibits alcohol consumption in view of the pitch at clubs competing in the five highest divisions. Police chiefs warn changing the law would pose "challenges" to safety.
