Police seize 83% more illegal e-bikes in a year

Police forces across the UK confiscated 7,049 illegal e-bikes in the year ending May 19, an 83% increase from the previous year's 3,858. These bikes, often modified to exceed 70mph, are effectively electric mopeds that require registration, tax, and insurance.
