Manuel Pellegrini strongly rejected Jose Mourinho's suggestion that Real Betis played for a draw, insisting his team deserved their 1-0 victory. The Chilean manager stated that their team's intention was to secure a victory from the outset, and they succeeded by converting opportunities that Real Madrid failed to exploit. Troy Parrott scored the winning goal after coming off the bench, giving him a confidence boost.
