Peers want UK gambling ads banned to protect public health

A House of Lords committee says the government has been too passive regarding digital advertising and social media influencers. Bookmakers, slot venues and casinos won £12.6bn from customers in Britain last year while up to 1.4 million people have a gambling problem. The Betting and Gaming Council dismissed the report as deeply misguided, warning that a blanket ban would help the illicit market.
