PCOS now called PMOS after global effort
The renaming of Polycystic Ovary Syndrome aims to improve diagnosis and care for millions of women worldwide. The condition, affecting one in eight, will now be known as Polyendocrine metabolic ovarian syndrome (PMOS) after 14 years of global collaboration. Experts say the old name caused confusion, implying it was solely a gynaecological disease and delaying proper medical attention.
