Paper maps outsell GPS, even tripling demand in some cities
Paper maps and atlases have actually seen a revival in the last decade, with map makers like Ordnance Survey seeing big sales increases in 2020 and 2021. Travellers rely on physical maps when GPS signals are lost, as seen in Moscow and St. Petersburg where demand for atlases tripled during internet outages. Old-school maps also keep users more active in navigation and provide a wider perspective of the surrounding area than a typical GPS display.
