More than a third of post offices inside TG Jones, the high street chain formerly known as WH Smith, are closing, according to Post Office records analysed by the Guardian. Thirty-six branches have shut this year and another 34 are due to go by early 2027. Some towns could be left as postal deserts while the Post Office searches for replacement operators to step in.
