OpenAI launches GPT-5.4 Cyber for vetted security teams, matching Anthropic's restricted model strategy

OpenAI released GPT-5.4 Cyber, a variant of its flagship model fine-tuned for defensive cybersecurity work, with access limited to thousands of verified individual defenders and hundreds of teams. It includes binary reverse engineering capabilities absent from the standard model. The move comes a week after Anthropic restricted its own Claude Mythos Preview to around 40 organisations amid cybersecurity misuse concerns. Both approaches are tiered.
