OpenAI Launches GPT-5.1 with Enhanced Conversational Abilities and Customisation Options
OpenAI has officially released GPT-5.1, an upgraded version of its AI model featuring two variants - Instant and Thinking. The new model offers warmer, more natural conversation tones while addressing previous criticism of GPT-5's overly restrictive personality. Key improvements include adaptive reasoning that adjusts processing time based on task complexity, better instruction following, and new personalisation presets including Professional, Candid and Quirky modes. The rollout began with paid subscribers and will expand to free users gradually over the coming days.
