Offshore oil production gains importance as Iran conflict highlights supply risk
Recent tensions in the Strait of Hormuz have pushed offshore oil and gas to the forefront, proving its value in diversifying global energy supply. Offshore production already accounts for about a third of global oil output, with deepwater sites driving much of the growth. Investment in these projects was already increasing before the conflict, which just reinforced existing trends.
