New Zealand's social media ban: 10% global income fines for tech firms
Tech firms could be fined as much as 10% of their global income if they fail to block younger users. Prime Minister Christopher Luxon announced the bill on Monday, arguing that addictive online platforms are damaging children's sleep and mental health. But foreign minister Winston Peters says his party will not support the rules, calling a similar recent Australian ban a failure.
