Northern Ireland launches new £5m weight-loss service
Northern Ireland's new £5 million service will offer free weight-loss injections on the NHS to tackle the region's high obesity rates. Health Minister Mike Nesbitt stated that medication would initially be provided to individuals with the most pressing clinical requirements, with the goal of improving health outcomes. This new Regional Obesity Management Service is expected to start rolling out in early autumn 2026.
