Nikon disqualifies photo contest winner for using AI

Nikon disqualified Dr Ning Xu, a researcher at Tsinghua University in China, from its Small World In Motion scientific photography competition. Experts raised concerns that the winning video, showing cilia movement in a child's airway, was fake. Nikon stated the video "did not comply with the competition rules regarding generative AI" and will now review its annual contest rules.
