NHS screening misses most at-risk women under 50
A Cambridge University study found NHS screening criteria fail to identify up to 95% of women under 50 with higher genetic breast cancer risk. Researchers said NICE guidelines, focused mainly on family history and specific gene mutations, overlook many women who would benefit from earlier checks. About one in four breast cancers occur in women before age 50, according to the study, published this week.
