New implant helps spinal nerves regrow in labs
Irish scientists have made an implant that helps damaged nerve cells in the spine grow back, which could change things for people with spinal cord injuries. Researchers at the Royal College of Surgeons Ireland developed the implant to deliver tiny particles and RNA signals that kickstart nerve growth. Early lab tests show neurons exposed to the implant grew much better, and they'll now test it on living models.
