New Forest heathland fire spreads from A31 van blaze overnight

Firefighters worked all night after a van fire on the A31 near Ringwood spread to New Forest heathland on Sunday, creating a visible smoke plume. Twenty-six fire crews, water carriers, and off-road vehicles attended the scene as the fire rapidly expanded. National Highways maintained the closure of the dual carriageway in both directions, spanning the section between the M27 and the A338.
