New Data Shows Martha's Rule Saving Hundreds of Lives

A scheme giving NHS patients and families independent access to urgent clinical help has shown strong early results. In its first 18 months, nearly 1,800 NHS staff made calls under Martha's Rule, with new figures suggesting around 534 life-saving interventions were triggered. The scheme was named after Martha Mills, a 13-year-old who died from sepsis in 2021 after her family's concerns were not escalated.
