Nearly 2,000 Dead As Venezuela Rescue Hopes Dim
Families across Venezuela are losing hope of finding loved ones alive as the search window for survivors has closed. Officials confirmed on Tuesday that the death toll from last week's twin earthquakes has climbed close to 2,000, with around 43,000 people still missing. The quakes measured magnitude 7.2 and 7.5 and struck just seconds apart, prompting rescue teams from 30 countries to join the effort.
