NATO allies stay quiet over Turkey rights worries
People may hear fewer public comments about democracy in Turkey as security ties take priority before a NATO meeting. Leaders from the alliance's 32 member states are due in Ankara on July 7-8, and diplomats don't expect criticism of legal action against the main opposition. More than 200 people were detained before the gathering, while dozens of independent journalists were refused access.
