Mobile payments rise as cash decline slows in UK

Two-thirds of UK adults used a mobile payment service last year, with debit cards loaded onto phones being the most common method. UK Finance, a banking trade body, reported that mobile banking is now preferred by three-quarters of adults. While cash use fell to 8% of all payments in 2025, it's expected to halve by 2035 but will not disappear.
