Migrants use longer, more dangerous routes to cross Channel

Migrants are increasingly using longer routes from beaches in southern and western France to cross the Channel, French authorities say. One boat from Normandy recently spent over 30 hours at sea before Border Force intercepted it and took it to Dover. These new routes, up to 80 miles further, substantially increase dangers due to hazardous sea conditions.
