MI5 warns UK universities about China's espionage via academics

MI5, the UK's internal security service, has warned universities that they may have unknowingly helped China's espionage efforts. The security service determined that the China General Technology Research Institute (CGTRI) served as a shell company for China's intelligence service. Queen's University Belfast has subsequently instructed staff to examine all current or planned cooperative ventures with CGTRI.
