Metropolitan Police Will Deploy Drones for 999 Emergency Responses
The Metropolitan Police are launching a new trial programme deploying remote drones from buildings across London to respond to 999 calls. The drones are outfitted with high-definition cameras and travel autonomously to incident locations, where they transmit a live video feed to police personnel for immediate intelligence. The initiative aims to help locate missing people, trace suspects, and provide aerial views during major incidents. The pilot began in Islington, with plans to expand to the West End and Hyde Park by year-end.
