Maths GCSE results get a boost from boundary change

Top grades in GCSE maths rose after exam boards were told to lower grade boundaries, reflecting what the regulator called genuine improvement in student performance. Results at grade 7 and above climbed from 21.5% to 22.3%, backed by national test evidence of sustained progress. Slightly fewer pupils reached grade 4, meaning more will have to resit the subject after 16.
