Man jailed for keeping dead mother in freezer to claim £78,000

Christopher Phillips hid his 89-year-old mother in a chest freezer in his home after she died in March 2023. Merthyr Tydfil Crown Court heard he lied to doctors and police while continuing to pocket her pensions and benefits. The 60-year-old received a two-year and four-month prison sentence after admitting three offences.
