Major Explosion And Fire Hit Essex Industrial Site

More than 100 firefighters are tackling a large industrial fire on Southend Road, between East Hanningfield and Rettendon, after residents reported hearing and feeling an explosion on Friday afternoon. Essex Fire and Rescue declared a significant incident and told nearby residents to keep windows and doors closed as black smoke spread across the area. No injuries have been confirmed and the cause is unknown.
