London shops use new video system to catch more shoplifters

Met police say cases resulting in a charge or caution jumped to 29.4% after the software was introduced, up from 7.3%. Major stores like Tesco and Boots can now send CCTV footage straight to police in minutes instead of waiting nearly a month. The digital platform is expanding to eight more London boroughs after trials in six areas.
