London fare dodgers cost TfL £165 million, wiping out ticket price rises
The amount of money lost to fare evasion on the Tube and Elizabeth line is nearly equivalent to the £168 million TfL anticipated from recent fare increases. This means the entire fare increase goes to cover losses from people avoiding paying, according to the Centre for Government Reform. The think tank also claims 3.5% of all TfL journeys, around 126 million each year, go unpaid.
