Labour and Tories refuse to stand against Farage in Clacton

Labour and the Conservatives will not field candidates in the Clacton by-election caused by Nigel Farage resigning his seat over a donations row. Farage, who is standing again and denies any wrongdoing, said the decision showed contempt for voters, while ministers dismissed the contest as a circus and some residents told reporters the plan felt weird. At least one challenger is expected, with satirical candidate Count Binface seeking the ten local nominations needed to stand.
