Keira Knightley has shared her personal experience of phone hacking, which helped her understand the paranoia in her new play, The Lives of Others. The play, set in East Berlin in 1984, features Knightley as a theatre actor being spied on by a Stasi officer. It uses a revolving stage and video to show the audience both the characters and their eavesdropper.
